After the september seminar install where I had the bike in a clustered form in my bedroom, i am now thinking about ways that this cluster can become moved into a new space - quite literally, as I'm looking at ways to suspend the bike, like a form in mid-air. Kind of like a storage unit, where things are hung to ease contact from the floor, but also something playful and fictional about a hanging bike is an intersting aspect. Like a hanging rocking horse. It can kind of become dynamic as well, when air passes through the space and makes the bike sway. Below are the images of this idea's test in a shed I have outside.
The thing that diddn't work in this install test was using nylon orange straps to suspend the bike... It looked like it was part of the bike - which it isn't, and therefore disrupted what was work and what was an install implement. Wire is probably the best option for a clean install, which is what i want in an exhibition space for this work. Its about the bike and how it materialises as this clustered form in the air, not how the orange straps are making the bike hang etc.
Fixing the bike:
Bike in the shed, suspended:
Clustered form with materials arranged onto the bike - this way i can adapt to the type of space the bike being exhibited in, by the amout of materials i attatch.
